S&L Personnel are looking for people to work as a Machine Operative for our client based in Thurmaston, Leicestershire.

Our client has been at the forefront in the production of Industrial Coating Adhesives for over 50 years, with two sites in the Thurmaston area within close proximity to each other. Due to ever increasing order books, they need experienced candidates as well as people who have worked in a similar field looking to be trained up in this area.

Pay rate£9.85 to £12.38 per hour.

Overtime is available on all shifts and is paid at Time + half for the first 8 hours, Then Double time after that.

Shifts/ Hours of work:

Rotating shift – Coating Site:

Week 1 (days) Mon to wed 06:00-18:00, Thurs 06:00-14:00 (44 hours)

Week 2 (nights) Mon to wed 18:00-06:00 (34 hours).

Rotating Shift – Converting Site:

6am – 2pm (early shift) & 2pm – 10pm (late shift) Monday to Friday

Machine Operative(s) will need to have a good knowledge and experience of operating Machinery in the engineering sector but some training will be available. Candidates will preferably have worked as a Setter (or in similar role) in the past. Some engineering qualifications would be advantageous, but not essential to the role. Supervisory or team leader experience in a previous role would be required to achieve the highest pay rate.

Key role of a Machine Operative:

 

  • Operate Machinery that dispenses items onto conveyer belts
  • Move items/stock on a production line
  • Prepare items for production and technical departments
  • Learn how to operate and work on different machinery as training is given
  • Maintain accuracy and quality of items to a high standard

 

Experience & qualities required from a Machine Operative:

 

  • Candidate needs to have some engineering experience of operating machinery.

  • Great attitude, and a willingness to learn and progress.

  • Great attention to detail with a strong track record of punctuality prioritization.

  • A positive, can-do attitude with ambition to progress within the company.

  • Flexibility to working shift patterns.

  • Confidence and initiative to work on your own and be a team player
